Ken Iverson

Ken Iverson moved to Erie six years ago to be closer to his three grandchildren. Before relocating to Colorado, he spent 35 years in Morris, Illinois, where he taught math, coached basketball, and became deeply involved in community leadership. A lifelong builder and design enthusiast, Ken designed and constructed his own contemporary home at age 36, working alongside friends to bring his vision to life from hand-drawn plans. Years later, he built a second custom French Country-style home featuring more than 20 arches throughout the design. After retiring from teaching, Ken helped launch youth sports programs through the YMCA, growing participation from 200 children to more than 600 across multiple communities. His efforts also helped pave the way for a new $22 million YMCA facility. Ken served six terms on the Grundy County Board, overseeing county facilities and major capital projects. He is especially proud of his service with Illinois Valley Industries, a nonprofit that provides employment and housing support for adults with special needs.
